It's June 2nd and that means today I go into a classroom for the first time since 1983. Well, partly a classroom.
In my quest to jump start my latent art monkey into action, I signed up for a one-week outdoor painting workshop at Yavapai CC. I'm hoping being in a somewhat structured environment with other artists will help me focus. At home I'm terribly competent at doing anything but sitting down and making art. I can distract myself better than a mynah bird.
The instructor is a known watercolorist; when I mentioned her name to our neighbors (who were over last night to eat roast lamb and drink wine with us before heading East for a few weeks), they knew her and even have some of her work. Small towns--gotta love 'em!
I'm a little nervous, but it's the good nervous of an old dog that is trying to revive old tricks. I'm going to try watercolor and pastel, neither of which I've used in years (have mostly been working in acrylic and pencil/charcoal when I do sit down and get arty).
So, onwards and upwards.
