Through The Garden Gate : January 2021

Time to start a new year in the garden as I join Sarah once more for her 'Through The Garden Gate'. It has not been the best of January's this year; very damp and colder than usual. When I looked through the images for this time last year there was lots more growing. The first daffodils were out and much more colour. Thank goodness for the few hellebores that are out this year. They always bring cheer with their shy downward nodding flower heads.

Witch hazel has lasted well this month as well as the Skimmias and Camellias. Not forgetting the odd fuchsia flower too. Always colour to be found even on the coldest of days. We even had a very early iris that appeared, sadly it was very short lived thanks to the constant rain.

Looking around its lovely to see the pots of daffodils and tulips emerging. Hopefully this time next month flowers will have formed. The aonium too is going from strength to strength taking over the whole border.

It's at this time of year I begin to long for warmer weather and the luscious summer plants. Only eight more weeks till the clocks change in the UK and then the longer evenings. Bring it on.

So how is your garden? Is it covered with snow or growing abundantly in the summer sun?
